Toys we love #1

Playmobil Dragon Knights

If you didn't know already, the Greysies LOVE Playmobil.  Daddy Greysie doesn't love it because if he's on duty watching the children and has to tidy up, he doesn't know which bits go where, but Mammy Greysie LOVES Playmobil almost as much as the kids.  In fact, I can be a little obsessive about it and I don't like to go to bed without making sure all the figures are in the right place and have their hats on!

We have lots of Playmobil sets and we originally started buying for the eldest.  Charlie isn't a great player with toys, however, and he never really spent much time with it.  Henry on the other hand plays for hours and hours and hours, so I'm very pleased that all the toys we bought for Charlie (who is coming close to turning into an Xbox) are now played with by his brother.  I would also class Playmobil as a 'forever' toy, in that I fully expect there are many adult collectors out there too!

As I'm writing this, Henry is playing with a combination of toys from the Playmobil "Knights" and "Dragons" theme.  The dragon tower (set. 4836) was originally Charlie's and he received the little dragon's lair secret box (set. 5420) from one of his friends for his birthday last week.  We've also got the Lion Knights treasure troop (set. 4874) and Falcon Knights troop (set. 4873) and lots of random 'special' figures and blind bag figures.  A few of the characters came with the bi-monthly Playmobil magazine (which I've only ever found available in large WHSmiths and one petrol station).

Playmobil sets aren't cheap, but I've found you can usually get a good price on Amazon and it is often in 3 for 2 offers around Christmas time.  I do think that although the toys are quite expensive, they are extremely good value for money because they can be played with for such a long time, they are virtually indestructible and they can be passed down to siblings for years to come.

They take time to put together (up to an hour if it's a big set) so if it's a Christmas gift, I've learned to make it up beforehand then put it back into the box (usually have to disassemble slightly to fit).

Lots and lots of possibilities with the dragon knights.  As well as internal battles good knights vs. bad knights etc. we've had knights vs. pirates and knights vs. cowboys ... we've even had them fighting Star Wars figures!  We'll definitely be adding to our collection. :)
